Twitter Automation is Useful, But Needs A Human Touch
Ring Savvy, Answering Service Experts
I heard a story the other day of a great example of how a company can automate things extremely well, but how the lack of a human watchmen ultimately can lead to problems. Take the company, Uber, for example: Uber uses smart programming to determine where its cars should be at certain events that people will eventually need rides from. Uber’s programming does a great job of knowing where large gatherings will be, but it cannot predict whether or not those people will actually be utilizing Uber’s services. In one instance, Uber correctly predicted that a large gathering of people would occur, but incorrectly deduced that these people would need rides, since the gathering was a marathon! Runners don’t need to use Uber, because their mode of transportation for the next 29 miles will be on foot.
The same thing can be said for Twitter automation – you can correctly establish a system that will interact with new followers, but you the system cannot deduce whether or not the account is appropriate for your business, and may lead to an embarrassing tweet on your behalf. For example, there are a lot of fake accounts whose names may be inappropriate, and when your automation kicks in and displays their name with the automatic, “Thanks for following, @inappropriate!” you might be embarrassed with the end result. This is why automation is useful for automatically posting a tweet when you’ve released a new blog post, or duplicate a facebook update, or simply retweet a source you find reputable and useful, but a lot of the times is not useful for interactions with new followers.
The point is: you must interact with social networks yourself, in order to increase engagements and drive interaction! Your business thrives when customers want to talk to you, and opening a channel for communication between two live parties, not just an automated response, will ultimately engage a larger audience from which your business will earn new customers!
